Description
The Kentron V–4 R-Darter air-to-air missile is a radar-guided medium-range missile of the BVR type, (Beyond Visual Range). It entered service with the South African Air Force around 1995 and equipped the Atlas Cheetah C fighters as a medium-range main weapon. The V4 R-Darter was also used in live fire tests by Brazil on their Northrop F5E Tigers.
The identical looking Rafael Derby has been used on the Israeli F-16I and Colombian and Ecuadorian Kfir variants. It can also be integrated with other types of F-16, F-5 Tiger and even Mirage. It was selected by India to be used on the indigenous Tejas fighter aircraft.
