Description
The Kentron V3S Snake was the South African Air Force (SAAF) designation for the Israeli Rafael Python 3. It was an advanced, short-range, infrared-guided air-to-air missile introduced in the late 1980s as an interim and highly effective countermeasure against modern MiG fighters
Note the special adaptors on the pylons to enable the V3S Snake to fit the launch rail to the Mirage F1
These missiles were carried just after the end of the “Border War” on SAAF Mirage F1AZ, Mirage F1CZ and the Cheetah series of aircraft, the Israeli’s also sold this missile to many other air forces around the world
