Description
Due to the Matra 550 and Kentron V3B infrared air to air Missiles proving to be ineffective during air combat over Southern Angola, the South African Air Force then bought and received from Israel 50x V3S “Snake” missiles (Rafael Python 3), these were very modern very effective infrared missiles. These were integrated onto the Mirage F1CZs (and F1AZ’s) in mid/late 1988(?) and thus were to late to be used in combat. This set provides the load used on the SAAF Mirage F1CZ’s in training and air defence duties in South Africa post war. Note that these Python 3 missiles were also used by a number of other Air Forces on Mirage F1 (Ecuador), Kfir (Israel) etc.
